The target problem
Counter-UAS sensors and effectors need real small drones in the air, flown by real pilots, and a good share of them do not come back. Ranges we have talked to lose more than half their targets in a year. Every lost aircraft is either a line on a purchase order or a reason the next test slips.
Foreign-built consumer drones used to fill the gap. Since December 2025 the FCC Covered List blocks new authorizations for foreign-produced drones, and federal money has not been able to buy them since. A US-built, Group 1 airframe at consumer-drone prices is the replacement.
Why a repairable trainer makes a good target

Recovered airframes lower the replacement line. A target that loses an arm and lands is back in service the same afternoon.
Limits, stated plainly
The Corvin presents a 5-inch class quadcopter profile: up to 22 minutes of flight and up to 1.5 pounds of payload. It does not present a fixed-wing or a Group 2 profile. Operations beyond visual line of sight need FAA authorization, or a range with its own airspace.
Questions buyers ask
Can we buy airframes only, without the ground kit?
Yes. The Corvin airframe alone is $1,799. Controllers and monitors are sold separately, so a range that already owns ground equipment pays for aircraft only.
What does a batch of twenty targets cost?
Twenty airframes at $1,799 come to $35,980. A batch of four stays under the $10,000 federal micro-purchase threshold; a twenty-aircraft requirement is one purchase above it, and federal rules do not allow splitting a single requirement to stay under a threshold.
How much of a damaged target can be recovered?
Arms detach and swap in about three minutes. Structural parts are 3D printable in ABS. Electronics that survive a hit move to a fresh frame. Many targets come back as parts rather than losses.
Is the airframe US-made?
Every Corvin is designed and built in Tulsa, Oklahoma, without Section 889 covered components. That matters on federal ranges where foreign aircraft cannot fly.
Can you match a specific threat profile?
This is a 5-inch class, 22-minute, 1.5-pound-payload quadcopter. If you need a larger or longer-range profile, say so in the briefing request. We will tell you plainly whether a Spector or Ranger fits when they ship.
